GCFO Blog 16: How to host the best New Years’ Eve Party!

Why did the party guest start making breakfast at 11:59pm on the 31st December? He wanted to make a New Year's Eve toast!

So New Years Eve is just around the corner, and you’re probably reading this because you are stuck with hosting the annual house party? Lucky for you, we’ve got your party planning and catering ideas covered!

Make it Themed

What better way to start a party than with a fun theme that gets everyone involved? Here’s some of our top picks to get the party pumping!

-       80’s Party

Think party pies, bright coloured punch and fluro lollies.

-       Masquerade Party

Easy snack food that can fit under a mask -nuts, chips, fruit and biscuits & bubbles of course!

-       Inner Child Party

Lots of lollies, choccies and nuts to bring the theme to life.

-       Heroes & Villains Party

Colour oriented foods- lots of black and red to fit in with villains.

-       Bubbles & Bowties (for a classier affair)

Champagne (of course). And some substance to settle those bubbles - cheese platters, nuts, party pies and chips.

-       Major events of 2019 Party (plenty of controversial political moments to choose from!)

Just your classic party snacks will do for this theme!

Essential Party Supplies

We all know New Years Eve is a messy night. So make sure you’ve stocked up on your laundry detergent and personal hygiene products so you’re ready for whatever the night throws up at you...

Location

Since you’ve shopped at GCFO for all your party supplies, you’ve now got room in your budget! Why not hire a venue for the evening? Or if you’re keen on a house party, you could spend the money you saved and splash out on hiring a cleaner for the next day. That’ll be sure to save you the headache (at least the clean up headache...)

Time

Our motto is the earlier the party, the earlier everyone heads home! So if you aren’t a big partier, we recommend starting the party early around 5:00pm. That way you and your guests should still make it to midnight but also get to bed before the sunrises.

The Morning After

This is the most important step. Getting yourself and any remaining guests through the recovery stages.

From our experiences, we recommend:

-       Water (of course…) You can also add some cordial to replenish your sugar levels and help with the inevitable headache

-       Juice is also a proven hangover cure

-       Frozen veggies- defrost them on your forehead before heating them up and eating a nutritious meal

There you have it. We’ve covered all the bases so you can throw the perfect New Year's Eve bash. Now don’t go making any pour decisions… And don’t forget to make the toast!
